A peer reviewed paper, ‘Improving clinical research through better use of clinical trial registry data’, has been published in The Lancet Digital Health, highlighting how clinical trial registry data can be more effectively leveraged to support research and decision making.
The paper reflects insights gathered through the ACT EU multi stakeholder workshop on clinical trials analytics, which brought together representatives from across the clinical research ecosystem. Feedback from this workshop also informed the development of the Trial Map, a key tool designed to improve access to clinical trial data across the European Union.
The paper outlines stakeholder needs and identifies use cases for advancing the use of registry data in clinical research, with a focus on:
- Optimising trial design and planning
- Strengthening the evaluation of evidence
- Enhancing patient centricity
By capturing and consolidating stakeholder perspectives, the paper provides a shared direction for future work to maximise the value of clinical trial data.
These efforts contribute to ACT EU’s broader goal of making Europe a more attractive region for clinical research and to support the delivery of high quality, efficient and patient focused clinical trials.
